Today’s art lesson involved the most famous of flowers that come on during Japan’s rainy season, the hydrangeas or ajisai as it is locally known.

To start off we got into our safety gear and drew circles pencil and our vases.

Then we used color pencils and crayons to fill out the everything but the flowers themselves.

After we were done the painting could start. We used cotton swabs to get the round shape of the flowers and dabbed them onto the paper like little raindrops of colors.

Our finished pieces really captured the essence of the flower petals of a hydrangea.

Let the rain punctuate the pavements with beautiful hydrangeas.
