Stained glass is a wonderful thing.

Its colorful panels let sun shimmer through.

On Monday, we made art in a stained glass style.

First, students decided on what shape they wanted their suncatcher to be.

Would it be a diamond? A circle? A square.

The possibilities were endless.

Stained glass art is often made up of a picture with colorful panels surrounding it.

Students thought hard about what they wanted their focus to be.

Once they had their designs sketeched out, they began transferring them onto plastic film.

Using marker on the plastic was tricky at first, but students worked hard to create their designs.

Sunglasses were cut out and the finishing touches were added.

Students were eager to see what their designs looked like when put up to the light.

It was fun making our colorful suncatchers.
